Every now and then you realize that some things you meant to do didn’t get done and this blog is one of them.
There has been a bizarre amount of goings on since I last posted including a trip to Australia, travels all around the USA, new friends and the passing of some old and dear friends, changes in direction filming for new shows and an all around feeling of delight in the world around me.
Work wise it has been an incredible year. Minelab has completely changed its direction in the best possible ways imaginable. The mob in Australia found the absolute right VP for the Americas and we are moving forward at record speed. It is an exciting time to be a part of the “Excitement of Discovery”
We are moving our main office to Chicago keeping a sales office in Las Vegas and I will have a field support and technical training facility here in Arizona by the end of the summer. It would be open a bit sooner but I am off to Alaska in a few days so the building will be sitting silent for a few more weeks. Once open it will be a base for field training for partners and consumers both. I am truly looking forward to moving forward!
Personally I am missing my shop for those rare times that I decide to unplug and build a few flutes or didgeridoos. I have a couple of almost completed flutes on the shelf and a lot of Agave tubes cleaned and sanded waiting to become the latest instruments from the Terra Sonus shop. But with the move, there is no shop just stacks of wood standing in corners patiently waiting. No worries when the time is right……
Finally, Alaska is upon me again and I am looking forward to the weeks of field work. It is something that is almost impossible to put into words other than once Alaska and the Cripple River have made its mark on you, you are captivated and can not wait to return.
I am taking a couple of detectors this year to hunt with over the 4 or 5 I had last year. I am hoping that there will be enough time to do some very serious prospecting and find more spots for the participants too hunt for years to come.
Bags are packed, detectors loaded I am ready to go.
More to come from the great north of Nome.
Be well my friends,
Kevin
